Welcome to The Northern Angels, a delightful coffee shop nestled in the heart of Alnwick at 7-9 Market St. This inviting café is not just about great coffee and scrumptious treats; it's a celebration of community and creativity, with an ethos that particularly embraces and uplifts women, though everyone is warmly welcome to enjoy what it has to offer.
The Northern Angels is a haven for those who appreciate cozy atmospheres and vibrant decor. As soon as you step inside, you are greeted by a playful yet sophisticated ambience that invites you to relax and stay awhile. The carefully curated decor reflects a quirky charm, making it the perfect backdrop for a leisurely afternoon coffee or a chat with friends. The café also features a unique boutique area, showcasing a small selection of fashionable clothing and gifts, allowing for a delightful shopping experience while you sip your brew.
Now, let’s talk about the stars of the menu—the food! Customers rave about the phenomenal selection of cakes, with the lemon and blueberry cake receiving particular acclaim from Alan Gladman. With each bite, you’ll experience a burst of zesty flavor, perfectly paired with a cup of their organic coffee that’s been described as the best in town. The menu also includes an array of savory options, such as delicious cheese scones and quiches, showcasing local ingredients and fresh preparations. Julie Buckham particularly loved her quiche served with coleslaw and crisps, a filling and tasty option perfect for lunch.
For those looking to indulge in something sweet, Gina Raymond recommends a slice of the coffee and caramel cake—rich, moist, and utterly delectable. The bakery items are not only a feast for the palate but also for the eyes, beautifully displayed to tempt passersby to step in and enjoy the cozy vibe. And if you’re a fan of seasonal flavors, don’t miss out on their pumpkin spice latte!
One of the standout features of The Northern Angels is its focus on community. As Ann-Marie pointed out, it's a splendidly relaxing space where parents can take a breather while their little ones enjoy the designated play area. There’s even a charming book swap corner, perfect for literature lovers looking to trade their reading material. The staff are consistently mentioned across reviews for their warm, welcoming demeanor, adding to the establishment's overall charm.
The Northern Angels is not simply a coffee shop; it’s a place where unique experiences are crafted daily—where gourmet food meets community spirit, and every customer feels at home. Whether you're here to enjoy a quick coffee on the go or to unwind with friends over a decadent slice of cake, this café is a true hidden gem in Alnwick. Don’t just take our word for it; visit today and experience the magic for yourself!

What an amazing place! Quirky ethos and decor. Aimed especially at women but anyone welcome. As well as food they sell a small selection of clothing. The highlight has to be the toilets upstairs. The baby change/ pamper area is awesome (see photos). I love the whole concept.

The best selection of cakes in Alnwick, by far. I had a slice of the lemon and blueberry cake, and it was fabulous. I'd like to come back and try all of them, but we're not here that long. We sat on a large table and chatted to another couple who were visiting. This place encourages people to chat, and that's lovely.

Lovely coffee house with most amazing Cakes (although I did opt for a cheese and bacon scone which was equally amazing!). Hubby can vouch for the cake. Staff really welcoming, beautiful decor and ambiance. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely cafe set in market square . Quite large and outside seating too. Cheese scone, quiche with coleslaw and crisps, millionaire shortbread (enough to share) and 2 large coffees ( no silly little cups ) £22. Friendly staff and comfy seating. Also sell clothing and gifts. Celebrating women and their achievements

Wonderful place. Literally the most relaxing place I have been to. There’s a new cute corner with a book swap. A really lovely kids play area off the shop floor which means you can relax while the kids play. So lucky to have this on our door step! 10 out of 10 to the girls! Organic coffee they serve is the BEST.
